Marty has been working at Balclutha Motors Group for over 13 years. Born and bred in Balclutha from a large family of seven boys and two girls , he’s spent 16 years in forestry and six years overseas in rugby. For him, working at Balclutha Motors is about supporting the local community and their families. Chances are if you’ve stepped into Balclutha Motors, it’s Marty who said hello and had a chat.
When it comes to working in car sales, he finds there’s more of a personal touch in the rural community; you’re more likely to talk about family, the farm and rugby, over tea and scones, instead of the latest car features. This community focus is what puts Balclutha Motors second in the country for after-sales customer service.
It’s always satisfying to hear someone is happy with their recent vehicle purchase. For Marty, it’s all about finding families a good match for their needs. Having local customers back for their second or third car purchase certainly says something.
Outside of work, you’ll find Marty playing a round of golf or busy with Otago rugby. At the moment, he’s the Coaching Development Officer and ID Talent spotter for the Union.
In the last 13 years, he has also found time to Coach Otago B,Otago Country, Southern Region,Clutha ,Varsity A, Harbour Hawks and over see the local college.
